There is a Chinese proverb that says He who plants a garden, plants happiness.
My garden is a work in progress —
it keeps me busy and happy.

Cindy's Garden — A Work in Progress

We bought this house in 2006 as a blank slate, no landscaping at all

A year later it looked like this

Here is the steep slope in 2009

And another view looking down the slope

The front hill is a huge challenge to groom, so I "repell" down the hill with tools in hand

The backyard was ugly and bare.

Then we dressed it up a bit  Ta dah!

Then I became a Master Gardener and added a few more plants

And here's a tour around the back garden

Sunflowers and Pride of Barbados
(Caesalpinia pulcherrima)

Various shapes, colors and textures
add interest to the view.

Pool-side color with Esperanza (
Tecoma stans), trailing lantana (Lantana montevidensis) and Agapanthus (Agapanthus africanus)

Lion's Tail (
Leonotis menthifolia)
