Bridge Church Fredericksburg was launched in September 2019 by Max Lucado and the team of Oak Hills Church, San Antonio Texas. The Bridge, formerly OHC Fredericksburg, had been operating as a satellite campus for 10 years prior, using a building and site that had actually been originally constructed as an event center.  In the last three years, Bridge Church has been modifying the footprint and making it their own, which brings us to this exciting new opportunity.

The outdoor patio and stage area is currently under-utilized, having a singular tree and minimal landscaping with a pea gravel base. It faces the west so it suffers from the harsh light and severe runoff from gutters when it rains. This poses a great challenge to Master Gardeners!

The landscape plan is evolving to turn the space (about 2000 square feet) into a usable and appealing multi-purpose gathering spot filled with native and Bible-based plants. It has been named Bridge Church Commons. Several of the 2023 MGs are heading up this effort. The landscaping plan is to bring life into this area by tearing out plants, constructing beds, managing the water off the roof, choosing and planting plants. Then they will train and guide the church membership to take over the resulting garden and keep it thriving in the future!
