Hill Country Master Gardeners do need 10 hours of Continuing Education (CE) to recertify each year, and that requirement is set by the Texas Master Gardeners Assocation, Inc.

You must complete:

  • 10 hours of Continuing Education (CE)

  • 25 hours of volunteer service (the standard annual volunteer requirement)

Both must be logged in the official volunteer management system (VMS) to maintain active certification.

What Counts as Continuing Education?

You have a lot of flexibility. CE can come from:

  • Texas A&M AgriLife Extension–approved classes or webinars

  • Local Master Gardener association programs

  • State or regional gardening conferences

  • Horticulture workshops, lectures, or field days

  • Online courses related to gardening, botany, soils, water conservation, pests, etc.

Listed below are some examples of where CEs can be earned..
